QiDoc--
thanks for the suggestions. I have not tried those things before. I have tried acupuncture in the past, once for migraines about a year ago (did around 10 or so sessions) and also for chronic back pain about 10 or more years ago. With both sets of treatments, I found that it helped quite a bit with feeling very calm, but at the same time, I felt very awake, had lots of energy, and just felt "clean" or refreshed. However, no significant relief of the symptoms I was seeking treatment for. I just happened to write to my previous acupuncturist last week, asking about the GI stuff and if she thought she could help me. She said she didn't want to really promise me anything until we met and she could evaluate me and really understand the problems. I would love to try it, but right now $$ is pretty tight and stupid insurance doesn't cover it. Looking into going to another place where they offer a sliding scale with the lowest prices around, and it does have a good reputation. We'll see what happens.

I'm sorry you are going thru so much! That sounds just awful! What is sucralfate? Rx? I will look it up, but just curious. I already do eat a rather bland diet because of my other GI issues. I am a vegetarian, which makes it more tricky to find things to eat and get protein and all the other nutrients necessary. I don't do fruit, veggies must be cooked until mushy (and some of those aren't well tolerated), I do not have caffeine, no carbonated stuff either, some dairy is really a bad idea for me. I tend to eat a lot of mashed potatoes (no skins), lots of breads (no whole wheat or anything high in fiber), some protein bars, pasta. Basically tons of carbs with little nutritional value. about 90% of what I drink is water, some gatorade (when I have to drink the bowel prep stuff, every 10-14 days). I'm looking forward to getting things sorted out and being able to have a more "normal" or nutritious diet in the future. I tend to go for the soft foods too, cuz I also have a pretty bad problem with my teeth...had a bad infection in my upper jaw that went undetected for a long time. It ate away a lot of bone, I had surgery to remove the tooth and clean out the infection, and put in some bone graft material. Gotta wait 1 more month to see if the graft grows enough strong bone to do an implant. Then over the next 2-3 years, I will have most or all of my teeth removed and replaced with the implant system. I'm only 36. So, looks like I better get used to soft foods, small meals, and lots of water. Sorry for rambling. Thanks for the advice and the support. Hope you feel better soon!!
