Tapering PPI's

For the first time in a long time, I am going to try to taper PPI's. Going from 20MG a day to 10MG a day.

I hope these scholarly articles will help you understand that PPI's are not a negative treatment option for GERD, but rather a very safe and viable option. I hope your tapering of PPI's goes well, but the article you provided does not contain scholarly analysis of long term research regarding the effects of long term PPI usage. I would hate to see you suffer from GERD because of journalistic sensation. Good luck!

There is not medical consensus on the safety of ppi's. Esophageal cancer has increased dramatically since they have come into use. The well- respected docs at reflux MD feel that these meds only mask the progression, do not prevent esophageal cancer at all. TheAcidRefluxMan, you have been worried about that possibility, you are making a good choice in this world of uncertainty.
