I just received written results of my manometry and impedance study. It seems it did measure the upper region of my esophagus, as there were only 3 major points of note:
- I have gaseous reflux, but I also swallow a lot of air. No weak acid, liquid or vapour acid was detected, just the same gas I swallowed.
- I have a slightly weak swallow at the top of my throat, possibly due to a dry throat or post nasal drip.
- My Demester score was 0.20. The report says "There were one or two very brief acid reflux events, but no ph below 4.0 or weak acid reflux was detected. Automated analysis calculated 0.0% acid reflux in 24 hours. Some symptoms coincide with cervical dysphagia. There was frequent gas swallowing and consequential gas reflux."
So, what does this mean? Between my Peptests and Restech probe, and the fact the meds don't work at all, does that rule out reflux? I saw a speech therapist yesterday who suggests I have vocal chord dysfunction, but I thought only reflux could cause that? Can stress do it too?
(Until I see my specialist in person this week, I'm sticking to my reflux diet just in case)
