Hi All,
I am a 28 year old male from the UK who has suffered with acid reflux for roughly 3 years.
Over the years I have tried many PPI's - omeprazole / lansoprazole / esomeprazole .. None of which seem to really help at all.
I have had a Baruim swallow / Endoscopy / and last week had a Oesophageal manometry and 24-hour pH monitoring.
They have said I have a very weak LES and the next step could be a Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication
My main problem is that I just cannot stop burping, I can burp in the excess of over 50 times a day+, sometimes with acid too.
about once a week I am sick at work too which is very embarrassing as I have to sneak off during meetings to be sick.
Each time I eat or drink I am dreading the next couple of hours.
I feel like I have totally lost my quality of life. It's making me very irritable and snappy with my family and friends as I often feel so ill.
I go back to the hospital next month too see what the next step for me will be.
Did anybody else suffer with chronic belching beforehand and is now a lot better due to the Nissen Fundoplication?
Is there any techniques to strengthening the LES?
Thank you
Phil
