I'm very new to the board and posted about
Pylori and my visit to the GI doc a couple of days ago... didn't get much in the way of response.
I'm baffled. I never considered myself to have any kind of upper GI problem... no food regurgitation, no chest pain i.e. 'heartburn'. I just have this feeling of something being caught in my throat. I also become violently ill with pain if I eat broccoli and I get the hiccups if I eat bread. Is this part of the bread debate? I have to repeatedly swallow to get food down... it partially goes down with the first swallow but I have to keep at it. I am in no pain whatsoever upper GI, but I do have painful BMs during menstuation. I have no issues w/constipation. I'm extremely regular. Is this too much info? I'm very fit... I'm a recreational runner. 5'2" 108lbs. 42yrs old. I do eat more carbs than anything else, I'm sure. And I love chocolate and have a little of it a time or 2 (or 3) a week.
When I tell my doctors... I'm on my third... about the bread thing they say they have "no idea" what that could be. I live in a major metropolitan area with a world renowned hospital... I'm saying that we have really good medical care and docs in the area. I'm at a loss.
Read my Pylori post if you're interested so I don't have to repeat what I've done to date. I have an appt this coming Tues for a swallowing xray (I forget the med jargon) and I'm scheduled for endoscopy later in the month. Do I really just have reflux/GERD? I'm not trying to minimize the condition, but my GI gave me a laundry list of possibilities including Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).
But he really thinks I have some sort of stricture or something caused by years of reflux. Can anyone else relate to my specifics? I think I need an education in GERD/reflux.
Thanks,
Z
