So, I made the cardinal mistake and ate a good bit after midnight this morning and I am 13 months post-lapnissen.

This morning, my throat was a bit sore when I woke up. However, my allergies have been brutal this past week. The mornings are brutal.

I just hope this isn't reflux. I just want to test the waters some. Testing over the past year has revealed no reflux to be present.

Thoughts?

It's ragweed season around here...don't know if you're in the same type of zone, but ragweed is notorious for causing all kinds of problems. My husband, who has very mild allergies is really suffering.
I have terrible pollen allergies anyway, so it's just one more pollen to me! Chances are your throat is sore from PND caused by the pollen.

Still, I will say that even post Nissen some reflux is possible. When the surgeon does the wrap, he/she is going for "normal" reflux, which is <14 DeMeester score. They want us to reflux the way our normal friends do...just occasionally, when we overdo it. If they were to do the wrap tight enough to ensure zero reflux at all times, you wouldn't be able to get food through. So could you have had some reflux? Sure. My bet is on the allergies, though.

Thanks as always for your response. I'm told it's tough to decipher the two. I definitely have allergies. I had sinusitis maybe a month ago. I'm in Virginia. My room is dusty, too. A lot of people have illness issues from what we think is the building we work in.

I'm doing better with eating. Perhaps I've been eating too much in general as I've gained five pounds back. I do have an inguinal hernia now and my pants feel like they're cutting me in half. They should be plenty big. I can't figure it out, but it's made work miserable. CT scan tomorrow to see if I need hernia surgery.

Man, I am sorry to hear this. You've been through a lot.

Have you thought of a room air purifier? We have one as our room is in the basement. Damp in the summer and dusty in the winter. It helps us a lot. I use one with a permanent filer and is a fairly small unit that works really well. We also used one with the metal vanes you can clean. It worked pretty good as well.

Oddly, the CT Scan showed no hernia (there's still a lump there), but I do have gallstones. I hear they're no big deal, but I could be headed for a gallbladder removal. The surgeon's office missed the gallstones, but the GI doctor saw them. Makes you wonder who even reads the results.

Bill, I've got a huge dehumidifier here that needs to be emptied often. We're unsure as to what causes all the moisture. I haven't really considered an air purifier. Recommend a brand name? I'm told my lungs are clear.

Much of the time I want to keel over. I mean I'm only 33. Almost 34. You just wonder what's the point? I know some here are in much worse shape, but I'm a wuss.
