Ive really been struggling for over two years with worsening LPR. It started as just a constant throat clearing; irritating, but now I can only wish that was my only complaint. As of today, I have constant, irritating, sticky mucous, exacerbated anytime I eat something. I have a cough from the irritation in my throat. My ears always feel full, and pop when I swallow, accompanied by occasional ringing. Throat is normally sore, and when I talk I have a tendency to feel winded or like my voice is exhausted.
Before all of this started, I was very happy, active, well adjusted, exercised five days a week, not a care in the world. Im only 23 years old. This disease has caused me to battle depression regularly. My exercise regimen has been severely crippled, because I don’t have the zest I used to have, and feel sick most of the time. I often get irriatated with people if I have to talk to them for an extended amount of time. They did nothing wrong, they don’t understand what I’m going through, but the anger rises up because I just don’t have the energy to talk…
Ive been to my primary doctor, two ENT’s, and soon a gastro doc. have taken every allergy pill known to man, omeprazole, probiotics, gallbladder supplements, antibiotics, gaviscon, Elavil….Ive been desperate to get back the quality of life I once had. This weighs so heavy on me. During my appointment with the gastro doc, Im going to plead for the Nissen. I don’t care of the risks, if there is a chance I can get back some quality of life, Im going to do it…
Does anyone have an account of their experience with this surgery, or another surgery for LPR?
