Hair loss and ppi!

Hi just wondering if any women (or men) have experienced hair loss whilst taking ppi???

Ive been back on lanzoprazole 15mg daily for about 6 weeks now following nissen back in May. I've noticed my normally very thick hair is shedding massively. Every time I touch my hair I have at least 5 hairs in my hand, my pillow is covered, my clothes are covered and so are my car seats. I've read it's a side effect but had anyone experienced this and has your hair re-grown?

Sorry to hear that Trotters, I have read about this before. If you do a search on this site you'll find a few postings.

I would suggest seeing your GP again and switching to a different type?

Also might be worth some blood tests as PPIs can cause anaemia which of course can cause hair loss.

I got a huge rash on my legs and arms when they put me on massive doses of omeprazole and mine cleared up in a few weeks after I lowered my dose.

Yeah I think a trip to the gp may be due.

Gotta laugh, if I didn't laugh I'd cry! I may as well add hair loss into the ever increasing list of ailments!

Yes, I have noticed hair "shedding" while taking ppi's. It seems to ease up a bit once your off of them but who can really stay totally off of them.....

I have hair loss/thinning with Nexium, one of many side effects.:(
