Hi all
I am almost two years post Nissen. Do the problems with gas and bloating ever get any better? about a month ago, I forgot about not using straws and had two mixed drinks and then ate half a hamburger and half order of french fries. I was in excruciating pain and had dry heaves. This happened once before at an all you can eat catfish buffet way too close to the time I had the procedure done. These were both severe incidents; however, on a routine basis, I have bloating and flatulence issues.
I went back to my GI doctor and she put me on baclofen, but that really hasn't helped. She suggested next we try low doses of Elavil which has been helpful for others. She also suggested a very structured limit/re-introduction of foods where I limit types of foods to find out what causes the most problems, etc., which is one of the reasons that I had the procedure done so I didn't have to be so careful with what I eat.
Should I expect this to get any better at this point or is this my new normal? Has anyone else found medication that helps prevent this? (I do still use OTC gas relief products with little effect.)
Thanks!
