I have been on nexium for 3 days now....40 mg....and I woke up this morning feeling full.....I don't eat much at all....I had a glass of unsweet tea and 1/2 egg with cheese melted on it for breakfast....4 hours ago...and I still feel so full...I feel sick!  I feel like I ate 2 or 3 big macs!  I am not sure the relief of the heartburn and burping is worth this feeling.  I am starting to question the Nexium.

keep digging. Read the insert. It will make you question big time. I think people forget that PPI's have only been widely available only in the last 10-15 years. No one knows or can claim to know what the long term effects will be.

I took it. Until I read the "precautions" and "packet insert".

There are at least 20 herbal remedies that I know of for GERD.

some work well, some do not.

Gastramet, 3 xs a day after meals, gotu kola- because it's soothing, glutamine- to help the stomic heal, probiotics- to help reseed proper intestinal flora, licorice chews- after meals, marshmallow root tea- inbetween meals- very soothing, and slipper elm sometimes- helps coat lining.

I did a lot of reasearch into all of those things. They work if you find the right combination. The only problem is keeping up on everything, and it gets exspensive.

I don't know all the answers, but I'm learning and suffering, and don't want anyone else to suffer.

I believe I could deal with this if it weren't for the chest pain. It is just awful. Nexium totally takes the heartburn away which is great but I still have the other symptoms. The funny thing is this summer I stopped all meds and drank vinegar water and felt great for 2 months. Then one day I started burping uncontrollably and it is all back. I have no clue what causes it to come and go and I get the impression the doctors are as clueless as I am. Not comforting at all.

I also am having severe heartburn cannot tolerate nexium, prevacid, am now taking zantac 300mg, not really helping that much, Dr gave me a rx for Librax and have not taken it, why do I need a tranquilizer, I do not want to be in a stupor, I am at my wits end, have had this for many years but it has gotten worse , the Drs are tube happy, I am not going to have another endoscope, hve had 4, also have IBS and that really aggravates the heartburn. Doctors are very quick to write Rx for all these new drugs, maybe they should take them and go through all these side effects. I am looking for something other than those chemicals to put in my body,. someone out there must have some advice.Will try anthing.

Have you read any of my posts. There is an alternative. It really works, hits the root cause of GERD and it makes you more healthy at the same time. Give my approach a try for two days and see how you feel. You will be surprised.

Librax is an antispasmodic, it generally is prescribed for irritable bowel syndrome and colonic spasms, along with easing anxiety. It's a med. that's been around for a pretty long while...though, it's not for everyone. Dr. Norm's approach with the low carbs won't hurt you, and may be of benefit. I don't know if it helps cure GERD, but I guess we all get to that point of willing to try new ideas! :) Ask your Dr. if you have any more of these type questions - he should be willing to sit and discuss this with you!
