Consequence of Nissen?

I am coming up on the one year anniversary of my Nissen procedure. Prior to the surgery I was hardly ever sick, especially when it came to the flu (nausea and vomiting, in particular). In fact, I think I fell ill once in the previous 10 years. This past year, however, I have been to the ER 3 times because of illness that has left me TRYING to vomit, but unable because of the procedure (it then takes a week before I am back to normal). Is this something that others have experienced with this, or has it just been an unlucky year for me?

Strange, I've never heard that frequent illnes could be a complication of Nissen. Are there any theories that explain this?
