Dear All,
Its now a bit more than six months after my Nissen, after three years in total GERD hell. The initial recovery was tough and kept - keep.... - dragging on.
These days I feel a lot better, and I now work nearly as normal again. I still take Zofrane, but often only half the (max allowed) dosis I took before. The terrible back, neck and left arm pain has also been minimzed, so the amount of pain killers have also gone down. Life is slowly getting better, and dont regret the surgery at all. What alternatives did I have?
I was loosing my business, my social life - my sanity. The decision was actually very easy for me, and Im so happy that I had the Nissen. Im also very happy that a very good surgeon did the operation, he said that the fundo was really picture perfect
However, amongst all these goods things, I have a very persistent problem, that you may have experienced also?
After eating, and I only eat very small portions (I feel constantly hungry or constepated), I tend to feel quite sick: dizzie, nauseated, difficult to focus on my work, all I want to do is lie down. It goes away again, but I feel really miserable for quite a while. It doesnt happen immidiatly afterwards, typically its a about
an hour or so afterwards.
If I overeat, I get the most terrible chest- and throatpain, and start to vomit...or rather I dont, as it doesnt seem possible anymore. Dont know the US/UK word for this, sorry.
I have never been a big eater, but now I eateven less, and my weight just wont get back up again as I eat so little.
I have been considering if this could be dumping sydrome ? Have you experienced something similar - did it go away again?
