Army_Vet60 is right. but i have to say initially gargling with salt water was miserable for me. i used tri-salts instead. another thing you can do is drink 1/2 a cup of water with a ph 8.8 or higher about 1 hour after a meal when the throat is most likely to get bombarded.
i actually have come to the conclusion the last few days that drinking water with a ph that high might do damage to our digestive system and increase our susceptibility to infection. we need acid to fight infection. the only place that doesn't need it is the throat!
i have one more suggestion. before eating i started drinking 1/2 a cup of dandelion tea before i take the dgl licorice. i have found that helps with digestion so much i stopped with digestive enzymes. it might be too soon for you to try that. most alcoholic digestive bitters have dandelion as the main ingredient...and for some people dandelion increases reflux. i have only found one complaint that it does (but tread carefully because there are warnings). i have not found it to be a trigger for me.
