Welcome to the forum, Monica.
Intubation shouldn't do anything to the esophagus, I would guess as a non-doctor, but getting the tooth out could have given you a sinus infection. The tube goes into the trachea, bypassing the stomach.
When I get a sinus infection I can tell it because the first symptom is sinus drip. When it goes on for a while I get a lot of sinus drainage and my gut gets upset. Then it goes into my lungs if I don't get it treated soon enough.
It's tough to get docs to prescribe antibiotics anymore, but you can alleviate the draining symptoms somewhat by doing sinus washes daily or twice a day. Look up threads on sinus wash, and sinus infections in the search box at the top of the page.
