Hello ((((SUNSHINE)))),
Those extra () are soft-gentle hugs.
Thank you so much for your reply. I was so scared for you after I saw the post before my post! It seems that you might have found a little relief since that post?
I'm not sure if the rules allow us to use Dr's names or not, but I had my surgery at the IMC Hospital. We are currently in different networks I believe but I think my husbands insurance will change very soon and I could then be in your network. Our family has been in the same network for many, many, years and I know many Dr's in this network. This is the very reason why I jumped onto my surgery before the year past. I agree surgeons are KEY.
I Believe I now have a better understanding of the source of the last painful nights that kept me awake. I am still new to the aftermath following Nissen Surgery. Two days in the bathroom have left me much relieved of what was causing me such pain, I was backed up! Pain meds do that. I had began stool softeners in the hospital but as long as you are taking the pain meds the bowels are too relaxed to function. I then came here and read about
miralax and doubled the effectiveness by adding it to apple juice! Apple juice has always greatly helped me in that arena lol.
After the big clean out, I hydrated with flat ginger ale. I had nausea and a headache. I didn't need nausea medicine or newly prescribed pain medication because I had just been in surgery less than 18 hours prior to my Nissen surgery having a plate and screws removed from my distal radius (wrist). I wanted to make sure that the 4 mg of zofran was the same that my Nissen surgeon would have prescribed so I called him. HE called me back! I'm quite impressed with my surgeon!! He said yes, take those every six hours if necessary and to stay hydrated because of the bathroom issues. He also gave me permission for eggs and it's greatly helped me. Last night I slept so good!
I know what you mean about
having cold things. I feel pain right away when I eat cold and have most things warm or at room temperature. That seems to work for me but we are all so different.
You said that you have to do heavy lifting at your job? Yikes! I can't imagine lifting much of anything for quite some time. I see my surgeon on Tuesday. He put some sort of superglue on me to close my incisions. It has stayed on really well and I'm curious to see what he says about
it staying on time wise.
What are the shots you talked about
? I have never heard of them.
Once again, thank you for your reply. It means so much!
When you mentioned the ENT I was hoping it wasn't one of the experienced ones on my network. Before having the surgery my GI doc who I really adore, ordered a motility study. That was the worst test ever! They shove a tube up your nose, down the back of your throat into your esphococus ending at your stomach. I was gagging and chocking and then throwing up! They had to get the doctor! He came in and had his go at it, he then asked me if I used cocain! The tube had come out the other side of my nose! OUCH! Through baited breath I said no I don't use any drugs. He told me that users often have a passage whole in their sinuses. Oh when I say that was the worst test ever, I know what I'm talking about
. I've had a spinal tap, and two EMG'S. So after the motility study I got sent to the experienced ENT. He barely took a look and said I was fine. I consider him very lazy! He saw my son years ago for something very serious and never even touched him.
Best wishes to you Sunshine. I hope you find some answers.
I'll check up to see what you find.
