If you're taking antacids you won't have acid reflux, but you will have non-acid reflux. It doesn't burn, but it can choke you when stuff comes up. You won't have acid burning in your esophagus if the antacids are working.
Frankly, there's no reason to have surgery if the antacids are working fine. I took this route for many, many years until I was in an accident that pushed my stomach into my chest. Surgery is the LAST resort!
Of course, your doctor knows lots more than us patients!
Thud in chest is probably just a PVC, but get checked by a cardiologist. PVCs are common and usually not a concern.
