Hi,
I went for my annual surveillance of my gerd and low segment barretts. The nurse called me and told me that the barretts segment came back negative for dysplasia. Great news, right? Well then they dropped the bomb on me. While examining the gastric body (the stomach) they found some polyps. They find these every year. However, they cut these out sent them to the lab like every year that they do. This time the report came back as:
" Gastric body, polyps:
Fundic gland polyps with focal low grade dysplasia( see comment)
Comment: Foci of low grade dysplasia are identified in the polyp(s). Dysplasia arising in the fundic gland polyps has a higher incidence in familial adenomatous polypsis, which should be rulled out clinically."
What does this mean? Now my benign polyps are precancerous? Has anyone else seen this or diagnosed with this? Please any information or insight would be appreciated.
