Your symptoms, excessive burping, bloating, and GERD are symptoms of delayed gastric emptying where food is staying in the stomach too long. PPI's can cause delayed gastric emptying along with other medications. When food stays in the stomach too long, it will cause GERD/LPR, bloating, excessive burping, and in worse cases vomiting. If you have delayed gastric emptying the PPIs will make the problem worse. You might want to be tested for delayed gastric emptying before starting either medication.
