Hi Malcolm,Welcome to Healing Well! Sorry to hear you're struggling. Hopefully things will get feeling better soon. It is true that a dose of 40mg Protonix twice a day is often required for people who don't get symptom relief with once a day treatment.
I also agree that it's unlikely that your "side effect" symptoms are caused by the Protonix. it's easy to read the list of possible side effects on nearly all drugs and get worried.
Here is a document that will help you make sure you're getting the most out of your Protonix. I don't understand why doctors don't send patients home with similar instructions when they hand them a script
for a PPI. Take a little time and read this, to ensure that you're taking the medication correctly:
