Bella,
Given the big story in the news this week about a link between PPIs and some people having heart attacks, I think your doctor will be more likely to listen when you tell him about palpitations. Also, although I don't have a specific source to give you, I know I've read that since the vagus nerve runs right through the middle of the chest and digestive system, it can be irritated and refer pain throughout the body. Maybe someone else on the forum can give you more specific information or examples.
As far as changes I've made, it's sort of recent but eating several small meals and taking a probiotic I eat Activia a few times a week) have already made things better for me.
Keep asking your questions.
Peg
Do you have a source for that? Hadn't heard that bit of news, but that certainly sounds concerning.
Though I'm more inclined to believe it's related to the reflux since I've only been on PPIs a pretty short while all things considered (5 months).
I'm FINALLY getting an apointment with a gastroenterologist now that I've had pretty much every test under the sun, so that should be helpful.
I'm not a fan of the Omeprazole I've been on - partly because of the icky side effects but mostly because it just doesn't work well enough. Without it I'm MISERABLE, yes, but the actual burning sensation part of reflux is just the same if not worse, even, when I'm on them.
So yeah, 10 days 'til my appointment, hoping for some new insight and some new meds.
