How Long Will Nausea From Prilosec Last?

I tried taking Prilosec OTC for my acid reflux and started experiencing stomach pain on the fourth day by the fifth I had extreme nausea. I stopped taking it, but I've been horribly nauseous for about two days now and it seems to be getting worse. I can't eat anything and am really worried about getting my important medications down or my fibromyalgia and allergies. I see an ENT today and I'm really hoping I can make it there. Does anyone know how long sort of thing usually lasts?

I wrote this in another thread before. I originally was placed on Pantoprazole (Protonix). I was on that for a few months before I was switched to Prilosec (Omeprazole). I had a horrible reaction. Rash, slight fevers, and nausea.

I talked to my Doctor and explained my situation and was switched to a third before finally simply saying. "If Pantoprazole works, why are we switching?" He finally moved me back to Pantoprazole.

My point, talk to your Doctor. Ask them if you can try others and explain your reactions. I was not aware that there was much difference between all of them. But from experience I can say there may be reactions to some and not others.

Thanks for your reply. Luckily the nausea has subsided now it took about three and a half days. The ENT said that my reflux could not be treated with medication since I've tried a lot of them now and I'm just too sensitive to them, but she recommended some minor lifestyle changes and seeing a gastro doctor. They also discovered I have a deviated septum so I'll be getting a CT scan and then likely having it repaired with surgery. I'm hoping that will help the reflux. :-)

I was taking a PPI (omeprazole 20mg). It is the generic of prilosec. I developed delayed gastric emptying from taking this medication. Nausea & stomach pains are symptoms of delayed gastric emptying. I could also not eat anything.

My delayed gastric emptying slowly reversed, but I had to get off all PPIs, h2-blockers (zantac), and antacids (tums), to get it to reverse.
