Hi, Thank you for this post. Today I suddenly got a reflux and was wondering what had caused it. I am on my regular routine and I almost blamed it on the banana I ate. But, it was the regular (filtered) water I was drinking a lot today. Few days ago I was drinking alkaline water and did not give me a reflux. Yup Andy1986, drinking before meals helped me too, also this will make the food digest quicker.
Yes jenagade, there is a toothpaste here in USA called BIOTENE and also they have the gel. That had helped my drymouth too. At Kaiser pharmacy (SoCal), they also have "artificial saliva" if really the dry mouth bothers you a lot. I tried it few times and it helped me.
God bless.
Hello,
After reading your post above. I want to disagree with another reply to your statement. I started out with occasional heartburn & before agreeing to surgery I couldn't even lay down without choking on acids in my chest & throat. I would gasp for air.
I had heartburn when eating any type of fruits. Bananas were the worst up there with oranges! I suggest keeping a log of what you eat & drink @ what times. Wait 30 minutes before eating again.
This helps you pin point what causes you pain to be worse, duration and what time of day.
I'm sure you've read all the "triggers" all ready. Just don't let that cloud you judgement on food you've eaten. Just because it's a common foods for most doesn't mean it's wont/will be a trigger for you.I wasn't able to eat anything after 8:45pm or that would cause me chest pain to be worse.
If at all possible try only drinking water & milk after 7pm. Try Eating cheese, milk, cereal, Greek yogurt is best option before going . Pay attention to the sugar content. Anything with dairy in it. This helps to naturally keep acids at lower. Try chewing on peppermint or spearmint. Another natural remedies are swallowing your saliva. These help break down the acids.
If on medications read about
long term use. Some of the meds. Cause bones to loose density over a long period of time. That's a small reason I wanted surgery done. I can enjoy foods I steered away from for years. So very thankful I did surgery in the end
