My recovery has been pretty good. The first couple of days were horrible, but it was shoulder pain from the gas not my stomach. I was out of work for 2 weeks (but I have a desk job). I can still only eat about a half cup of food at a time. I lost 18 lbs before surgery and another 19 since. I cannot eat a lot of things because I am on the soft diet for a few more weeks, but there is enough on the list to eat to keep it interesting. I had fried rice for dinner tonight.
But most of all, I am finally sleeping through the night (was waking up 6 or 7 times a night), I can walk up steps without choking again, I am able to do an hour walk with hills and not cough or choke. I feel like my life is improving ten fold.
If you find out you need the surgery, research, research and more research. Make sure your doctor has done a lot of these surgeries already. And follow the post diet and restrictions. That is what I got out of all of my research.
