Post Niessen - Heartburn much worse

Finaly have results of my impedance monitoring. It seams that during 24 hours I had just about 20 weak acid reflux episodes. So that is absolutely great. So my wrap is working properly. Even after fundo mean number of refluxes is about 30.

Some of the refluxes were also to upper part of the esopgagus and that is probably causing the sore throat.

That means my problems are from hypersensitive esophagus. In literature, tehere is warning that fundoplication may make the symptoms of hypersensitive esophagus worse but I think that it was stress after surgery (from the pain, diet and so on). I will not start the antidepresants now, I will try to ged rid of stress and see if it helps.

I finaly have my report from impedance monitoring. My bolus exposure time is 0.1% in 24 hours. Normal exposure is lower than 1.4% so I should be cured of GERD after surgery. Unfortunately all my reflux episodes went up to the pharynx so I still have LPR (in my case just sore throat). I hope that will be better in time and that is something I can live with. Low exposure time means that I am should not get Barrett or esophagitis and that is what is most important to me because I was very afraid of complications of my GERD. I am drinking atireflux solitution called GASTROTUSS after each larger meal and my burning pain stomach is almost gone. If it disappears completely and may be my thorat will be slightly better I will be satisfied....

I am on week 10 after Nissen and my symptoms have worsened, specially in my throat is more irritable now, I have to eat very small meals otherwise it will be a living hell for me, antiacids never worked for me , the only thing that helped is Gaviscon, before surgery I only took it before going to bed, now I have to after every meal, Overall I feel that the surgery has made my symptoms worse cannot eat normally, if I eat a normal size meal I start feeling nausea and Hiccups cannot drink alcohol, it burns my throat when it passes by. The only thing that improved was by burping, I could spent the whole day burping whether I have eaten or not. I am waiting to see how I evolve, I have an acquaintance who had the Nissen as well and he had the same LPR symptoms like me and he told me that at the beginning he regretted having the surgery done, but after 6 months from the date of the surgery He started to feel better.

Now I ma more than 4 mounth after fundoplication and still having burning in upper abdomen about 2 hours after meals more about 3-4 times a weak and also have occasional sore throat. All possible wxamination I had since surgery went negative so now I hope that more time will cure all my problems.

David I hope that your problems will resolve with more time ass well. I think all we should do now is wait and pray.
