I felt it in my throat like a skip when my heart skips beats, but also felt it in my back, all on the right side. Esophagus spasm?
I also then had 4 palpitations afterwards ( felt like my heart skipped beats, which is how it feels for me).
I DID STUPIDLY have pasta and tomato sauce for dinner!
Other than, I've been following my GERD diet and taking my medication.

Can GERD REALLY cause heart palpitations? And after eating sauce like that?
I've been having on and off palpitations since my endoscopy..
Very annoying...

It absolutely can. Also if your throat is irritated, either from the tomato or the endoscopy, you are probably likely to be feeling it more than you usually would.

Its always good to get any concerns with your heart checked out regardless of the cause, but reflux can cause heart palpitations. The reason for that is its part of your bodies response to pain or injury, trying to speed up blood flow to the affected area.

I just handed in an event monitor I wore 24/7 for two weeks, I've also had chest xrays, 15 ekgs, a 24 hour Holter monitor and an echocardiogram of my heart in the last 8 months. (:

Yes, GERD can cause heart palpatations. And in my case, SVT (rapid heartbeat). It can also cause esopahgeal spasms and they can cause heart palpatations as well as SVT. I get SVT about 90% of the time when I get an esophageal spasm. It totally sucks and I have to use a vagal manuever to get my heart rate back to normal.

I'm looking forward to the day when these stop.

W/out a doubt GERD can cause palpitations. but you know what is the leading cause of palpitations? Worrying about what is causing your palpitations...! There are so many things that can cause palpitations its literally too long to list them all. And the more you worry about it, the more often they will happen. If you've had all these tests, they would have found if you had something wrong (trust me i've been through it with the exception of the holter monitor) Its most likely just nerves..But yes could certainly be GERD exacerbating your palps as well.
