Question concerning asthma/LPR

I'm very angry at my GP for withholding information that points to me possibly having asthma, following what appear to have been serious asthma attacks for the last few days. I know of the connection between LPR and Asthma, but what concerns me is that before all this began 3 years ago, I hadn't had "Asthma" since I was a child. It disappeared for years only to come back now.

Anyway, I use Clenil and Ventolin right now. Clenil isn't preventing my severe attacks, neither is Ventolin sometimes - not sure if that's normal? If the inhalers work on my symptoms, does that mean LPR can't be behind them? I never cough or wheeze, but I do become severely short of breath and I get a little chest tightness. Mostly throat tightness though. A lot. With mucus galore. Moreover I have a Chest X-Ray showing "Air Trapping" but I had a Spirometry when I had no symptoms, sadly.

Daxter I'm in a similar predicament to you with regards to your possible diagnosis of asthma and lot symptoms. I've had 2 fundoplications though.
2 years ago my symptoms got really bad and took me to a&e twice with chest pain I had 3 X-rays that both shown air trapping/hyperinflation plus I was told I had COPD! I also had numerous abnormal ECG. Very worrying time. I'm still in limbo with regards to my asthma diagnosis and spurometry was regarded as "normal" although slightly outside of normal range. I do firmly believe that reflux can most certainly cause or aggravate possible underlying asthma or lung problems.
Where are you at with your diagnosis regarding your reflux symptoms?

I have had a bit of good news. Owing to how long my symptoms have troubled me for, I have been reconsidered for surgery if I try talking to a new specialist in the new year. We know for a fact LPR is at the very least nocturnal in me, but we also have sone recordings of daytimr reflux.

Did any inhalers help your 'COPD' diagnosis? I had a spirometry too, but it came back negative because I was symptom-free at the time.

A cough WHEN you get asthma symptoms you say? Odd. A single cough is all it takes to trigger my symptons. Or a huff. Or a laugh, or talking too much without inhaling. Why are my lungs so sensitive suddenly?

And only now have I learned I've been taking my inhalers wrong. The GP didn't tell me how to - no wonder they haven't worked yet!
