Trouble swallowing after bad cold ..... any thoughts?

Hi! Not been here in a while - as just over a year ago I had a successful toupet fundoplication - with very few problems. The last 2 weeks however, I have had the worst cold ever - with sore ears, stiff neck and joints, had a trip to my doctors - who gave me strong pain killers. The cold had gone - but I am left with swallowing issues - something I have never had problems with - and it feels much lower than my tonsils - has my wrap become swollen with my cold???? I feel like I have a lump in my throat - and although I am eating and drinking - it is taking me much longer. I'm beginning to think I need to go on a liquid diet until it settles! Any thoughts gratefully received!

I had actually stopped taking my pain meds when I found out I had this problem. When you keep on taking the pain meds - you don't feel pain - so I wanted to check if the joint pain had lifted - which it had - although my throat felt a bit funny even when I was taking the pain killers. As these have worn off - I find I can swallow liquids fine - but solid food is 'sticking' a little bit. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow for advice - it may just be the end of this awful cold - but I will be making sure I eat and drink slowly today!
