so, i've had GERD symptoms for 2 months already, the scariest of them shortness of breath, I've gone to the doc's 3 times already, first he put me on zantac and didn't do much, then he sent me to a specialist and he said that shortness of breath was not GERD, which contradicts what i see online. Besides that i have hearburn and bloating, they all started at the same time.
So this new doc gave me Aciphex. The symptoms got better for a week, i thought i was cured. Still trying to watch my diet, I had a burrito and the next day i got the shortness of breath and bloating again, my stomach feels big.
The doc didn't tell me what i have, if any tests were necessary, (the other doc did a blood test to check for ulcer and came back neg). Basically he said, take aciphex for a month and come back if you are still not feeling well.
It has been a week and i am not sure if i should request an endoscopy or barium meal test, to be sure. I feel like the shortness of breath is so debilitating that I cant wait another month to go back to the doc and have me try another kind of medicine, I am thinking I am going to go to another specialist and request further testing.
I have been eating bland foods, taking supplements, food enzymes, probiotics, mastic gum, aloe, honey, apples. etc
I just feel frustrated that the docs are so eager to just prescribe something and send you away, instead of doing all the necessary tests. As far as i know it could be a hiatal hernia or something else, and GERD is maybe just a symptom.
Anybody had a similar experience or taking aciphex?
