Hi all
I've had Crohn's disease for almost 30 years. 6 years ago I had surgery where part of my small bowel was joined to my stomach to bypass a bad stricture in my duodenum. The past few weeks I've been suffering from an ulcer where that join is located. I've had 2 CT scans and an endoscopy (a week ago). My GI saw the ulcer and upped my Nexium from 40mg a day to 40x2. She said no issues with the esophagus and even the bowel she did see past the ulcer looked pretty good. The new
opening at the stomach was not obstructed by the ulcer.
But it seems my stomach is slow to empty. I had toast and chamomile tea at 9am, it's 12:30 now and if I jiggle my abdominal area, I hear the succession splashing on my left side. I don't feel sick, have not vomited. I do feel a little hungry. I'm not eating much solid meals but relying on shakes and by the end of the day I am distended by 2 inches and having discomfort/slight pain. By morning it's gone. My voice is a little hoarse, but I don't have any real heartburn that I feel in my throat, just a gnawing pain behind the chestbone plus occasional pain around the nval and higher.
So I don't understand why this slow emptying is happening. I'm down 15lbs which is a lot for me, my energy is down, I had to get a blood transfusion 2 weeks ago. My RBC count is now stable it seems but low.
Any help is appreciated!
