Hi there,
I was prescribed 40mg Nexium (Esomeprazole) four days ago for reflux (I saw an ENT consultant for throat/swallowing issues and he did the camera up on the nose thing and saw irritation in the throat most likely caused by reflux).
Anyway, a day after I started the Nexium, I began experiencing a really sore, tender stomach and chest along with belching! Almost similar to a bad case of indigestion/trapped wind itself. I contacted my ENT doctor today and he actually said that, if they were in fact side effects, "it would be very unusual" (really?! It's listed in the leaflet!). After worrying me a little about
possible helicobacter infection, he then agreed to try me on omeprazole 40mg a day instead.
But, my question is, am I likely to suffer the same side effects with Omeprazole given the two drugs are quite 'similar'?
I would be so grateful to hear from anyone who has had experience of these. My doctor isn't being enormously helpful.
Thank you!
