Hello,
So about two years ago I had had enough trouble swallowing food and decided to do something about it. I've now had two upper endoscopies, and I have been confirmed to have Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE). Anyway, after using a steroid for a while, the doctor I have gone to wanted me to take a PPI to try and counter the EoE as he said it can work for some people.
Long story short, I tried omeprazole, rabeprazole, and pantoprazole - all which gave me weird and bad side effects, until I got to Dexilant. It's been amazing so far, as I have had no side effects and no trouble swallowing food. Unfortunately, recently though I've had an issue.
I was taking a different drug for cholesterol and got to taking a Coq10 supplement to counter muscle pain for about two weeks or so. The Coq10 gave me some weird side effects but nothing major, although I feel like it also messed with my stomach a little, and I felt bloated. Anyway, I ended up stopping the drug and the supplement, but since then I've had this weird feeling in my throat - kind of sometimes a shortness of breath feeling, but more like it feels as if my throat is getting tighter (even though I still don't have a problem swallowing) and the airways are not quite as open, and it happens near the top of my throat. Also, it seems to happen daily but sometimes is worse than others, and only seems to start about 30 to 60 minutes after I eat. If I eat again while I have the feeling, I don't feel it then but it comes back after a few minutes.
I've visited my primary doctor who doesn't think it's related to anything else. Seeing a GI doctor soon. Could this be something with Dexilant reacting that the other drugs caused interactions with? Or I am randomly getting Dexilant side effects months later?? Note: I've been on Dexilant for almost a year now, but just in the last 3 three weeks have felt this (right after the Coq10). Thanks.
