Welcome to the forum. We're not doctors, but I hope you will get some replies with others' experiences. Also, try the archives - the search box at the top of the page.
Do your spasms occur with everything you eat or drink or just with some things.
You mentioned texture. Is it all hard foods, all meats, all breads, all hard veggies? I have a problem with meats and think texture may be a trigger, but beef and especially pork contain a chemical that I know I react to. I'm good with chicken if it's soft but not if it's tough.
I don't recommend peppermint because it can cause reactions if you are sensitive to some chemicals. If you want to experiment, do so only once a day and just a little bit before going whole hog.
Watch out for honey. It is just sugar - fructose and glucose. There are many sugars. Table sugar or sucrose is the same two sugars, just hooked together. Sugars feed the bacteria in your gut and cancers. Honey can contain bacteria if not pasteurized. I doubt sugars help with swallowing. But flavoring with tea gets me to drink more water.
I suggest keeping a Food Journal to help you figure out exactly what foods are true triggers. You need to write down everything you eat and drink, medicines too. Time and date, also reactions, especially if they occur withing a half hour. See the many threads in the archives! This is what my allergist had me do years ago and we were able to figure out that I have a sensitivity to sulfites. Others have used this technique to find their problem is salicylates, MSG, fruit sugars, and many more triggers.
It takes time, often months, to find all the food triggers. After you get a few, google them with the term "food allergy." I found my whole list and a lot more foods that I hadn't figured out yet.
