Welcome to the forum.
4 weeks is just the beginning. How long it takes depends on what type of surgery you had, whether there was a hernia to be closed, what shape you were in, like comorbidities..... This is a like changing surgery, not a quick repair job.
I'd skip the bike and any other exercise for a few months if you don't feel great. If water doesn't go down well try tea or something else you like. Feeling dehydrated sometimes means low on salt. Check with your doctor, but I had to sip on a sports drink.
Why do you need Metamucil? Constipation? Don't bother with it unless you have a reason to take it. Try food instead, since you feel you need more food. Vegetables will help with constipation. If that doesn't work, check with your doctor! You'll feel like eating more in time. If you are losing a lot of weight talk to your doctor. You can try the "liquid supplements," but read the ingredients. Most are just a glass of milk and a vitamin.
Your stomach is smaller now. Eat every hour or two, whatever it takes to get your strength back. At 7 years I still eat 4 small meals and sometimes a snack or two. It's possible to stretch your stomach back out, but I wouldn't recommend that! It helps me keep my weight at a good level, less than when I had the surgery, which has been great for my cholesterol! I don't fill up on useless bread, concentrate on meats and vegetables.
Best wishes!
