Still very curious about the tortuous eshopagus so maybe a little more info would help. I had a routine endoscopy last week as I have had in the past chronic reflux, a small hiatal hernia and shatski's ring requiring dialation several years ago. This endo showed a large hiatal hernia, Cameron ulcer, shatski's ring, EoE (esophagitis?) and a significantly tortuous (curved and twisted) esophagus.
The gastroenterologist said there was nothing he or medications could do to help me and that I needed to see a surgeon, he is setting up the additional testing I will need... a barium swallow and manometry?
The only thing I could find after days of searching for "tourtuous esophagus" is that it could cause problems for some hernia and gerd surgeries... but I can't find anything specific. I'm guessing this is not really common or there would be more info out there. Any insights would be helpful. I guess I will find out more once I meet with a surgeon but that seems like forever away when one is sufferring daily through every bite of food taken.
