I have a large hiatal hernia and will have surgery with wrap on 5/24. I am 60, not in great shape and live alone. My kids live in Ca and I am in NY, and won't be able to come out to help me. My question is, will I be able to care for myself during early days of recovery?

Honestly, it would be best if you had someone to care for you for at least the first full week, even if you have to hire someone.

I am 28 and am in decent shape and just had my own surgery 3 days ago. Even today I am unable to do some things for myself, and it would have been very hard on me yesterday and the day before.

+2. the first week can be tough, even after, have someone you can call, if you run into trouble. we all heal differently, but this can be a bear. most important, you wont be eating much, or feel like it, STAY HYDRATED. good luck.
