I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last December and had a protastectomy in Feb 17. It was radical. Lots was removed. And I'm also on hormone therapy.
I'm 48 and thought I was relatively fit and healthy.
I found that the cancer had gotten out of the capsule and I into the prostatic bed, so I finished 33 sessions of radiotherapy, over 6 and a half weeks, approx 1 month ago..
The final 2/3 weeks of the radiotherapy were hard. I was exhausted and very frequently had very loose stools.
I thought I'd made it, got through a lot of crap over the 6/7 months and was now going to try to rest and to recover.
However, my digestive system has gone completely wrong........
Anything I eat or drink is leaving me in significant pain either with acid reflux and/or wind. Not as in passing wind, but trapped wind.
My oesophagus is tender near the stomach and I'm feeling lousy.
I'm about to have blood tests next week to see what's going on.
I hope to God the cancer hasn't spread further, into the colon or somewhere and now, if I'm honest, I'm in a bit of despair. I just want to feel a bit better.
Has anyone else had this post radiotherapy complete break down of the digestive system? Or should I be more worried?
