My nissen fundoplication and hernia repair are scheduled for this Friday. On the one hand I'm excited to get rid of my 7 cm hernia that has bothered me for 47 years. I've been housebound and miserable during the past four months and can't wear a bra, another reason I try not to go out in public. (I'm not 21 anymore).
But reading the post op posts here have me wondering if I've made the right decision to have the surgery. My pre-op tests showed good motility in my esophagus, and a very high level of reflux.
One thing that confuses me is that acid is in the stomach, and after the nissen, can no longer travel up the esophagus. What am I missing here? Will I be able to wear a bra after my hernia is repaired?
Help! I wish my parents were alive to tell me everything is going to be ok.
