Should I consider Benzo's/Ativan for GI Chest Pain?

I detailed some of my problems in another thread, but I've been dealing with some chest pain lately (upper-middle). It's sort of a tightness/squeezing type of feeling and I sometimes have stabbing type pain. What worries me is that I don't know if it's esophagitis, or maybe even esophageal spasms.

My acid is largely controlled right now with 20 mg Omeprazole, and I am still getting it (although it's slightly better than before). My doctor suggested that I try Ativan/Lorazepam, to see if that helps. I wouldn't mind trying it, but am a little worried about the potential long-term effects and addictive potential of benzodiazepines like this.

EDIT: I already did all the major tests (x-ray, EKG, blood-work, etc.) a few days ago to rule out the serious stuff.
