I have had LPR for 10 years. For the first two I could not control my symptoms with any PPIs. Then one day my doctor by chance prescribed a generic form of Pantoprazole made by SunPharma and for 8 years all of my symtpms and issues went away. Sun stopped making the pill about 24 months ago and I loaded up on medicine and scheduled myself for the Stretta. Needless to say the Stretta did nothing for me, I ran out of the Sun pill and all my symptoms have returned. I’ve tried multiple generic versions of Pantoprazole, the brand protonix, other PPIs as well. I am not on 40mg of Aciphex which only takes the edge off. I just cannot figure out what was so unique about that pill. I’ve done everyone from compare inactive ingredients to running my own experiments to see how it dissolves (interestingly, the Sun brand dissolved faster in alakaline solution that pretty much any other brand I tested. Worth noting is that my doctors believe my reflux is due to swallowing issues, ie., it’s not that my LES is weak, it’s thank when normal reflux comes up I don’t clear it so the acid sticks around. As any of you know, no one really knows... I’m considering LINX but still desperate to find a med which will work. Any thoughts and suggestions are very much appreciated!
