I can't speak for the "
open surgery", but I know that you are in the peak period for swelling of the wrap. This could be a reason for your continued shortness of breath, but that should subside. The hoarse voice could just be irritation from having a tube in your throat during the surgery. One of the reasons that I had the Nissen procedure was asthma issues caused by my reflux. It was a complete success, no continued breathing issues, no inhalers, no medication. Hang in there it does get better.
