Stretta can anyone help

My insurance company has denied me even though my test results show that I am an A+ candidate to have this procedure done. Can anyone tell me how to find out when or if Aetna will ever cover this procedure. It upsets me because I am scared to have surgery and my medication isn’t working at all anymore but if I was on Medicaid I could have this done. I feel hopeless I have had 3 doctors try to get this approved. What more do they need to approve it. Someone from Aetna should open a book or look around all the evidence is there my goodness.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have had the same issue of insurance denial for the Stretta. I don't think there is any way that you can find out when/if this procedure will be covered by your insurance carrier. You can look into the costs of financing the surgery cost yourself.

If you want to know why Aetna doesn't cover Stretta procedures, you can take a look at their long & detailed policy review of GERD treatment devices. Executive summary, they have looked at a lot of studies and aren't convinced there's enough evidence of long-term effectiveness so they still consider Stretta an experimental procedure. Dunno what it would take to change their minds besides more evidence.
