Diarrhea and Omeprazole

Hello:

I have been taking Omeprazole for a little more than 7 weeks now...my doctor wants me to take it for 12 weeks--40 mg/once daily.

For the last few weeks, almost every morning I wake up with loose stools; don't have it much the rest of the day although occasionally have stomach pain.

Six months ago during an endoscopy, I was diagnosed with esphagitis grade A, small hiatal hernia, and gastritis. In October, I had severe throat reflux so that's why he put me on a PPI.

In such a short time span, could I still be susceptible to C-DIFF? That's my worry with the diarrhea. Doctor said if it gets worse (i.e. watery) to come in and stop the PPI. I try to take a probiotic and digestive enzyme also.

Also, if I am to take it for 12 weeks, should I still try to wean off as opposed to quitting it cold turkey (like my doctor thinks?) Any weaning suggestions?
