Thank you, Sharon. I am learning not to expect too much too soon from this forum, which is very helpful. My surgeon sounded as if I'd be cured immediately. He didn't tell me to expect to have setbacks or that I might still have some reflux. He put me on Pepsid only to protect from ulcers since I had a pylorplasty. I have already started myself back on Nexium 20ml per day. I know it's not going to hurt. I don't mind taking it again for a while.
I saw your responses to others about the esophagus being a dumb organ and how it interprets pain as reflux. That made me think about how in the past, whenever I felt acid coming up, I developed this gaggy, sucking, swallowing reaction to get the globus down. Yes, I feel like a frog when I do it. That is what I have found myself doing again post fundo. But maybe muscle memory is causing me to react to ANY feeling in my throat as if it was acid.
When I take an oxy, I experience 0 symptoms. Maybe it's because I'm in a more chill state of mind and less sensitive. Obviously I can't be on oxy all the time, but I'm going to ask my doctor if a mild anti-anxiety med might be beneficial for a while until this globus clearing frog habit is broken. Does that make any sense? What I think is reflux may not even be true reflux!
I will just surrender to the healing, trust, and stay patient and positive!
