Hi I'm new on this forum but I have been reading numerous post since my nissen surgery 6 weeks ago.... I am trying to be patient (Which my surgeon says I'm the most impatient person he knows) but I'm not feeling much difference in my condition..... I don't have the reflux but I do have the pressure and feeling that everything I eat is going to flow back up at any moment.... I constantly feel as though I have cotton balls stuck in my throat.... Will this go away after time? I have always had reflux issues but I made a mistake and had my tonsils removed in September of last year due to excessive strep and after that my life has been turned upside down and inside out.... the tonsillectomy by far is the worse surgery I have ever had probably because I am 53.... then a week after that I had to be put back to sleep to be to stop the bleeding once the scabs started coming off.... then 3 weeks later the reflux started..... not reflux that happens every now and then... I'm talking constant!!!!! Just drinking water would cause reflux!!! I couldn't eat... I had to sleep sitting up... the reflux was so bad that I couldn't function on a daily bases.... to make a long story short I was sent to a wonderful and a top notch surgeon who after extensive test concluded that my ELS muscles were not strong enough to hold stomach contents down so my only relief would be this surgery.... He did a wonderful job and like I said no reflux but I still have that feeling that I had before the surgery.... I guess also I'm scared the reflux will start again..... I can sleep in my bed again which is wonderful and with the help of a mild antidepressant my out look on life has improved..... so my question is ( is this normal and has anyone else had this happen?) I lost 50 pounds during all this trama so now I'm struggling to get my weight back up.... I got down to 110 but now am gaining a little weight.... just want my life back to normal! Oh and by the way since the tonsillectomy my taste buds have changed dramatically!
