I can answer a few of your questions. I had the full wrap fundoplication over three years ago. I have lost the ability to vomit and belch, which has never bothered me. Some people can belch to a degree, but usually not the same as before surgery. Initially you cannot have chocolate, caffeine, carbonated beverages, or gas producing vegetables such as beans. You probably will have gas and bloating during your recovery that I took anti-gas medication (simethicone) for, and no drinking through a straw. I still get waves of nausea for no reason, and I always carry a prescript
ion of Zofran with me at all times which works well for me. You can google the diet that I used UPMC Post-Nissen diet, it has a lot of good information and can give you a good idea of what you can eat and what you should enjoy. I can tell you that I didn't start to feel a lot better until about
6 months, and my "new" me at approximately 1 year. I would advise that you have someone stay with your for the first few days as this is a major surgery.
