Four years ago today I underwent a successful operation to repair my hiatal hernia and Nissen Fundoplication. Since that time I have never had a single incident of GERD or even the slightest bout of heartburn. I am grateful to the Doctors and Staff at the Keesler AFB hospital and the mental support of the HealingWell website and monitors who gave me information, hope and encouragement.

Congratulations's, I'm 16 months post operation. I'm feeling really well, my food is still going down smoothly but sometimes, I rush. Human error and it goes down slow but I don't think I've felt the heartburn or reflux. I've not had the burning in my throat I once had I still get occasionally aches. I don't think it's heart burn but touch wood, I've felt great. I get mini burps from time to time but not what i thought a burp was it's more air.

Hi new to this forum. Can you tell me who performed your gerd fundication surgery? I am thinking of going to the Mayo Clinic but it is quite a distance from my home. Elle

The OP hasn't been active on the Boards in over three years, so you may not get a response. I would check into the teaching hospitals in your own area, and also where your insurance would cover your surgery as it can be quite expensive OOP.
