Hi all,
Many of you perhaps know this already, but I did not and others may not also.
1) When experiencing LPR/throat-lump type symptoms, not drinking cold water can make a huge difference. ESPECIALLY not drinking cold water after a meal. I can have a sip of cold water and get an instant lump sensation, have a sip of room temperature water a moment later and get none. (I tried this the other day.) It's a drag, as cold water is so much more appealing to drink, but on the other hand you never have to worry about your water bottle getting too warm!
2) The flipside is something I have just begun to think about. HOT beverages in general seem bad, more for the burning feeling (regular "heartburn") than LPR per se, but maybe both. Studies have linked very hot beverages to esophageal cancer. It makes sense if you think about it. If the acid has caused a burn down there, of course heat is not a good idea for it. (Same would go for very hot food, presumably.) Anyway, I was led to all this when puzzling out why drinking decaffeinated teas and such seemed not to make as much difference as I thought they should. It was the heat!
