I am new to this forum and to this health challenge. Retired in Mexico. Gathering my test results and heading back to US for full consult. US Doc attempting to find Surgeons in Texas.
Recent increase in swallowing challenge. Thus did an endoscopic: Result is my Hiatal Hernia had increased in size as per endoscopic (biopsies came back clean). No more incident of swallowing "catching" since I have been a bit more careful.
Manometry came back showing great function.
I am considering (researching) HH repair 5 cm, w/non dysplastic barrett's esophagus.
Both asymptomatic (no GERD unless I am ten pounds over my ideal/current weight of 115) at
60 years of age/reasonable fit/ no other health concerns.
Feel great otherwise, thus am feeling leery of something which would impact my life/create symptoms where there are none. I know age is a factor for this type of surgery and if I am to consider this, earlier is better.
Have any paid out of pocket for their surgery? What is the range for cost for Hiatal Hernia Repair & Nissan?
Does Nissan and HHR prevent the stomach from produce any gastric juices to digest food?
Curious as to why, if indeed this is the case?
Any mishaps you may have avoided, in hindsight (technique and materials used)?
