August 20th surgery

I saw the surgeon again today and my Nissen is scheduled for August 20. Because I'm divorced and have no family in the area, I've made a list of all the things I need to do to prepare for this. I'm going to call the surgeon's office back and see if I can get the script for any post-op meds beforehand to get them filled and have them ready. And I want all info about diet so I can shop ahead of time and be fully prepared.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on these boards about their experience. I've been reading past and present posts and have gleaned a lot of good info and advice. While I don't really relish the idea of having this surgery, I know I have no other options. I feel very good about my surgeon and he feels that I am an excellent candidate for the procedure. I'm going to think positively and be as prepared as possible for August 20th.

I do have a friend who is going to take me to the surgery center, bring me home and stay with me for at least the first night. She's said she'll stay as long as needed.

I've seen the UPMC post-Nissen diet. I'm going to call the doctor's office next Monday to get the script and post-op info. Based on what we discussed, I'm guessing his directions will be pretty close if not identical.

Good idea about the walking. I remember walking after another abdominal surgery years ago and how much that helped.
