So I am a singer/song writer (58 Years Young) and have been since I was 13 years old. In the last two years, I've developed weakness in my voice and in the last year, I have been diagnosed with Gerd. Within the last 8 months, I've had two endoscopies and from my Ear, nose and throat doc and one endoscopy from my Gastro Doc. All confirmed inflammation but no serious damage or lesions. I have dramatically altered my eating habits and patterns. I don't eat after 7pm. I stay awake and vertical until at least 3 hours after I eat in the evening. I have elevated my bed by 6 inches in the front. I have cut out all the big offenders (Alcohol, Tomatoes, Citrus, Coffee, etc). I was on nexium (OTC) and then Presciption Nexium for 6 weeks. I did notice a relief in my throat inflammation and an improvement in my voice. However, I decided to quit the PPI treatment because of side effects to my stomach.I was then put on the milder Calafate and I've been on that for two weeks now. I have noticed improvement in my stomach discomfort and acid Reflux, but my throat inflammation is still prevalent and prevents me from singing. Can anyone add to the preventive regiment I've listed above and will the throat inflammation eventually fade with continued use of Calafate?
